This morning, I decided to try the recipe my patient brought in last week that really inspired me. The recipe is called “sweet potato toast.”
Chock full of good fats, protein, fiber, flavor and satisfaction!
I sliced 1/4 inch of sweet potato, put it in the toaster two times. Then, I spread coconut oil on it and sliced avocados then smoked salmon and finally on the top sesame seeds and salt. Yum! See? Eating good can also be yummy 🙂
Ingredients list: Roasted sweet potatoes, sauteed onion avocado slices and wild smoked salmon with Victoria Taylor’s “7-seed Crust” and Trader Joe’s “Everything Seasoning” and extra virgin olive oil.

Good day, everyone! In this video, I discuss the differences between an MRI done on 2 different triathletes (one is 40 and the other in his 70’s) and a sedentary person. Up until recently, it was assumed muscles atrophied, or wither with age.
In this video, I discuss three books that I highly recommend. These are good resources and also tackle some of the practices that we recommend here in Chronic Care Charlottesville. The first book, “The Inflammation Solution” by Dr. Sears, discusses how to “Heal hurts, mellow moods, control weight, ease “itis”” as well as anti-inflammatory diet, and staying lean among others.
The second book, “Grain Brain” by David Perlmutter (neurologist) discusses how carbs are “destroying our brain” and can lead to conditions like Alzheimer’s, ADD, ADHD, and so much more. And finally, I discuss the Best Seller, “Wheat Belly” by Dr. Davis (Cardiologist). Like the second book, Dr. Davis also puts his cardiology patients on a wheat and grain free diet, and they get better!
